Remy Ma is currently serving a 8-year bid for shooting her girlfriend in the abdomen, but she’s launched an appeal to overturn the sentence. While the jail-bound femcee is not due for parole until September of 2014, she wants to go home just in time for Christmas.
Remy Ma was sentenced in May on charges of assault, weapons possession, and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes Joseph in the abdomen back in July 2007. She claimed that the shooting was an accident. The jury told her she needs more people.
Now, her lawyers are claiming the trial was riddled with mistakes by the judge, including the claim that Remy Ma was unfairly prejudiced by the inclusion of unrelated details about an August 2007 attack on her victim’s boyfriend.
