Lil Wayn’es sentencing has been delayed until March 2 due to dental surgery, his attorney announced in a Manhattan courtroom Tuesday (February 9).

The rapper was scheduled to be formally sentenced by a judge and begin serving his one-year term stemming from a 2007 arrest that resulted in a guilty plea in October for attempted weapons possession.

he Cash Money MC arrived shortly after 2 p.m. with his label heads Birdman and Slim. He quietly entered the courtroom as photographers snapped pictures from the hallway. Wayne wore a navy coat and black-framed glasses, and he sat still while his lawyer Stacey Richman spoke.

She informed the judge that she sent a notification to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office that the rapper is suffering from a cracked tooth and would need to postpone his sentence. The judge agreed and ruled to reschedule for March 2.

The rapper is set to undergo surgery February 12 in Miami, according to Richman. He will need a week to 10 days to recover. His defense offered prosecutors February 25 as a date for Wayne to turn himself him in after surgery, but Judge Charles H. Solomon instead selected March 2.

The judge then warned Wayne that he must return to Miami on Tuesday. Solomon insisted if he leaves tomorrow, there would be a chance his surgery would be delayed due to hazardous weather conditions leaving New York.

“I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.”

“Lil Wayne is gonna be OK,” retired NYPD detective and noted “hip-hop cop” Derrick Parker told MTV News. “While he’s in jail, it’s a matter of fact they may not put him with the general population because of who he is and his popularity. They might lock him down and let him come out with a supervisor and stuff like that [when he's] in the main area — but he’s definitely going to be treated differently.”

According to Parker, the way Wayne will be handled will depend on safety concerns for the rapper as well as an effort to maintain as much normalcy at the facility as possible — it won’t resemble pampered treatment by any means. Parker said despite Wayne’s small physical stature and his propensity to signal a particular gang affiliation in his rhymes, the rapper won’t have much to fear in terms of extortion, bullying or worse.

“Wayne is from the streets, from the Magnolia Houses in New Orleans, so I’m sure those guys have been in jail or locked up at some point,” Parker said. “So being in prison is no big deal to them. Plaxico [Burress] isn’t built for that — he’s the type of guy that’s never been locked up like that before. He’s gonna need a coach or someone to tell him what to expect, since he’s not used to that.”

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

Max B,, real name Charly Wingate has just been found guilty on 9 out of 11 counts in his ongoing murder trial. Max is scheduled to be sentenced in Bergen County on July 11, 2009, where he is facing up to 20 years in prison. Today after the jury deliberation Max was taken directly into custody.

T.I., real name Clifford Harris, and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, were married in a secret wedding ceremony last Friday on an island that was on the outskirts of Miami.

Cottle is the mother of two of T.I.’s kids and been the rapper’s companion since 2001.

“It’s been a crazy situation around here with all that has been taking place. In regards to Tiny and T.I., yes they are officially husband and wife. It recently took place in a very private ceremony with only members of the immediate family and certain members of the Grand Hustle family,” an unnamed source told The Urban Daily.

The wedding was positioned as a family trip to the media, but doubled as a wedding.

In other news T.I. checked into a federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas on Tuesday (May 26).

The rapper, the self-proclaimed “King of the South,” had faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge in his three-count indictment. Harris will be credited for 305 days of home detention he already has served after being charged, so his stay at the Forrest City prison likely will be only two months. Upon his release, Harris will be on probation for three years. He also must pay a $100,000 fine as part of his sentence.

He was arrested April 29 and according to an Atlanta Police Department report, police found a stolen .40 caliber pistol in Zellars’s SUV during a search of the vehicle following a traffic stop (the Sig Sauer handgun was loaded and had a round in the chamber). After cops discovered the gun, Zellars became “combative and non-compliant” and sought to flee. Officer Antonio Blasini pepper sprayed Zellars in the face, but the substance “had no immediate effect.” Cops chased Zellars to a nearby parking garage, where he was struck with a police baton, again to no effect. In a bid to shake his pursuers, Zellars weaved through parked cars and climbed over the garage wall, jumping “25-30 feet to the ground.” Zellars was booked into a Fulton County jail, where he remained until Saturday when he made bail. Zellars, a predicate felon, has yet to be indicted on the gun and obstruction charges. However, if the gun case were to be handled by federal prosecutors, Zellars could easily be facing more than a decade in prison.

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.
