Flo Rida has debunked recent reports claiming he removed a collaboration track with Chris Brown from his upcoming album due to allegations that Brown abused his pop star girlfriend Rihanna.

The Florida-bred emcee said he was misquoted in a past interview.

“I think someone must have got it twisted,” he said in an interview. “The thing was, we have deadlines to meet and between his business and my business…we had to turn an album, so I had to really get everything together…It’s not just that record, there were other records that couldn’t make the album that I wanted to make the album as well, but that was the process, this was way before me ever hearing anything about [the incident]. This was way before, at least a month. I had been done with this record.”

He was previously quoted saying the track’s removal was based on Brown’s publicized dispute.

“I recorded a great song with Chris,” Flo Rida said in an interview. “But I won’t be releasing it now because of what’s going on with him and Rihanna. It could have been my next number one.” (Hollyscoop)

Despite the removal, Flo Rida has tagged additional singers for the project.

Flo Rida and Brown collaborated for the track called “Sweat,” which was supposed to be the second single off the record. The rapper collaborated with Wyclef Jean and Ne-Yo for his new album but the track he recorded with 19-year-old Brown will not be included on the album. R.O.O.T.S is expected to be released in late March.
